FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to stay at the lodge to rent snowmobiles?
No, snowmobile rentals are open to everyone.

Do we have to snowmobile with a guide?
No, a guide is not required. With the excellent trail system in our area, the majority of our guests choose to go self-guided and have a great time.

Is there an age requirement for renting a snowmobile?
All renters must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid credit card and driver's license.

Is there an age requirement for operating a snowmobile?
Utah Law requires snowmobile operators to be at least 16 years old with a driver's license. Beaver Creek Lodge policy requires operators of the Summit REV 600 to be 18 years old or older and operators of the new Summit 850 ETEC, the Summit 850 ETEC T-3, and the Timbersled to be 21 years old or older. There is not an age restriction for passengers.

Can more than one person ride a snowmobile at a time?
The Summit REV 600 can be ridden double. None of the snowmobiles are equipped to be ridden by more than two people at a time.

What is the max weight that a snowmobile can hold?
Max weight is 400 LBS. If two people have a combined weight of more than 400 LBS, they will need to rent an additional snowmobile.

I have never operated a snowmobile before. Is instruction available?
We have an excellent snowmobiling staff who will give instruction on operating the snowmobile and offer assistance when needed. The large meadow in front of the Lodge is a great place to practice until participants feel comfortable enough to go on the trails. Although riding a snowmobile for the first time may seem a bit intimidating, it doesn't take long to catch on and enjoy the experience.

Do you recommend riding single or double?
The choice to ride single or double depends on the participant's age and level of confidence in operating a snowmobile. Participants under the age of 16 must ride as a passenger. Based on our experience, even novice riders prefer riding single over riding double because it is more comfortable and easier to maneuver the snowmobile.

What type of snowmobile clothing is recommended?
Quality snow clothing is essential when snowmobiling. We recommend water resistant snow bibs with a quality winter coat or a full snow suit. Gloves and insulated, waterproof boots are also important. Ski clothing works well. We have an excellent stock of snow clothing for rent, whether you need the entire outfit or just a few items to add to what you already have.

How long before my rental should I arrive?
It is a good idea to arrive about 30 minutes before the rental time to take care of paperwork, helmets, and clothing (if needed).

What is the elevation?
The elevation at Beaver Creek Lodge is 7,200 feet. Our snowmobiling area ranges from 6,000 to as high as 9,800 feet.

What are the snowmobile track lengths?
The Summit REV 600 has a track length of 146 inches. We have either 154 or 165 inch tracks on the Summit 850 ETECs.

What is included with a snowmobile rental?
All snowmobile rentals include helmets for the driver and passenger, if applicable. Rental costs do not include fuel or damage agreements. Fuel/oil is sold at competitive prices.

Is snowmobile insurance available?
Beaver Creek Lodge, Inc. offers damage agreements. The damage agreement has a deductible, meaning that the customer's maximum liability for damages and down time is limited to the dollar amount specified. Damage agreements are recommended but not required.
